Overview

The end of summer can be bittersweet, as we say goodbye to warm days and endless sunshine. When my friend, omouiegon, wrote "Another Falls (mouakininada)," a song about the end of summer, @malte.boo and I knew we had to bring it to life through animation.

The song tells the story of a girl who wants to savor the last moments of summer by taking a trip to the beach and experiencing the salty sea one last time. She brings a watermelon along, hoping to hold onto the sweet taste of summer just a little bit longer. Through my animation, I aimed to capture the beauty and emotion of this fleeting moment, and create a visual journey that brings the song to life.

Challenges & Approach

Editing this video involved shaping the story flow with @malte.boo and focusing on the final output. To save her time on drawing, I added some motion effect. We discussed how to match the vibe of the music and agreed that hand-drawn animation would perfectly fit the bittersweet moments of the story. The most challenging part was keeping the storytelling simple while controlling the framing. Balancing these elements ensured that the final video conveyed the intended emotional impact without overwhelming the viewer.
